IN THE REALM OF DREAMS

“This series is titled 'In the Realm of Dreams,' because the idea of reaching for one’s dreams and hopes is what has motivated and sustained me to become an artist.  There are many layers to this series, both physically and psychologically.  Each piece is a build-up of layers and materials, some providing views to below.  The many different materials utilized 'In the Real of Dreams' assemblages include heated copper sheeting, fibrous paper, and wire mesh, and wood.

Contemporary and abstract, my art provides structure to deal with the general chaos of life.  My art is optimistic and focuses on possibilities and potential, on growth and development.  The goal is to captivate the viewer with the use of vivid colors and abstract forms.  It is my desire to have your emotions pulled, and to have you feel the sensual and tactile ambiance of each piece.

Art to me is something that should be thought about and enjoyed.  There is a cycle between creating art and sharing it with others.  When others enjoy my art, I am elated and it fuels my creative energies further.

Since childhood, I have been painting.  It has been a need (or compulsion) to be filled.  After working in other fields, I finally realized that I had to get back to art.  I received my Fine Art B.A. degree from San Diego State University, where I majored in painting and minored in sculpture.  I went on to receive my teaching credential and taught art, 3-D design and ceramics for six years.

My longing to produce art full-time and a desire to slow down and feel connected to a community, led my husband, our youngest daughter, and me to Ashland.”
