"The interplay of light and color interacting with natural forms has always appealed to me. I prefer to paint directly from life, both in the field (northwest weather permitting) and in the studio. While painting, I try to find a sense of space and quietude using everyday objects and/or everyday scenes arranged in interesting and dynamic compositions.

Whether I am drawing from the living human model, a still life, or painting outdoors, I feel most alive when observing and inquiring into the world around me. I don't try to impose any particular artistic systems as I paint, nor am I trying to depict exactly what is before me. Being sensitive to the nature of things, I paint in a kind of conversation with the world, letting nature speak to me. I try this shape or that color; nature says to me, "that shape is good enough; work it a little more over there; this color is too garish -tone it down; that color is acceptable." I keep listening.

I participate in my community as an art educator, teaching classes and workshops. I also do painting demonstrations and art lectures in the Seattle and the greater Puget Sound area of Washington."

Lesser is represented in various galleries, and has become recognized by numerous awards and honors as an emerging artist of note.
